Barbeque Style Brisket (Tri-tip)
1 3 pound brisket or tri-tip
1/2 of a 3 1/2 ounce bottle of Liquid Smoke
3/4 of an 8 ounce bottle of Italian salad dressing
Your favorite BBQ sauce
Version A (in an oven)
1) Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.
2) Place meat in the middle of a large sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil. Drizzle with the Liquid
Smoke and salad dresing. Fold and tightly crimp foil to encase the meat. Place in a large
pan. Bake 5 hours.
Remove roast from oven and allow to cool slightly for about 10 minutes. Slice across the grain and put the meat into an open pan. Pour BBQ sauce over it and bake for another 30-35 minutes, uncovered.
Serve with additional BBQ if desired.
OR
Version B (crockpot)
1) Place the meat in a crockpot. Pour the salad dressing and liquid smoke over the meat. Add
about 1/4 cup water. Cover with lid.
2) Cook at medium setting for about 8-10 hours.
3) Remove and slice meat. Place in a foil lined pan and pour the BBQ sauce over the meat and
place in a regular oven at 350 degrees for about 30-35 minutes, uncovered. Take out of the
oven and serve. Or, you could drain the crockpot and put the meat back in with the BBQ sauce
and let cook on medium to high for about 35 minutes as well.
