German Potato Salad

6 hot boiled potatoes
6 strips bacon, diced
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
Fry bacon until crisp. Slice potatoes and add onion and salt. Add vinegar and sugar to bacon and fat in skillet and bring to a boil. Pour over potatoes and mix. Serve at once.
Serves 6.
Author's note: A fine addition to this salad is to saute sliced apples with skins on in a little butter or bacon fat.
