Green Beans with Applewood Smoked Bacon and Sweet Onions
2 pounds - washed and trimmed green beans
6 slices of applewood smoked bacon - cut-up into small pieces
1 1/2 sweet onions - but into bite size pieces
salt and pepper to taste
butter or margarine
Wash and trim green beans. Cut up bacon and onions. In a large pot, add a steamer (if you have one, if you don't - that's ok). Add water to the bottom of the steamer. Add the beans, bacon, and onions. Salt and pepper to taste.Cover and steam on medium low temperature until beans are done (about 35 minutes). If you need to cook them longer, that's fine. They are done when you can pierce them with a fork. Drain and serve with butter.
