Spaghetti-Italian Sauce

2 cups chopped onions
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 cup olive oil
2 (No. 2 1/2) cans (7 cups) tomatoes
2 (12 ounce) cans (2 2/3 cups) tomato paste
2 cups water
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon crushed oregano
2 bay leaves
2 pounds ground beef
Cook onions and garlic in hot oil until tender; but not brown. Stir in the next 8 ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, about 2 hours. In meantime, brown ground beef, then add to spaghetti sauce with following items:
1 cup Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped parsley
Stir and simmer a few more minutes.
