There's a first time for everything. When it came to making spaghetti, for years my fiancee and I would buy Paul Newman's Marinara Sauce. We love it. I even use it in my lasagna.
I was chatting with one of my bosses recently (I have 4) and we got to talking about spaghetti, etc. and George said "you know what my wife and I do? At the store we buy the packaged spaghetti sauce mix and the canned items that's called for. It's pretty good. We've done that for years."
Hmmm - he planted a seed in my head. So the next time we went shopping I bought 2 packages of Lawry's spaghetti sauce mix, 1 large can of tomato sauce, two 14.5 ounce cans of diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano. I added a few other things and tasted it.
It was vonderbar!
Of course, if you have your own spaghetti sauce that you love to make; there's nothing wrong with that! Sometimes a bottle of marinara sauce is better than what I could dream up myself or take the time to make. To each their own. Just make sure it's delicious and soul-satisfying!
